Desktop Client: Simulation error: simulation stopped because all transactions are waiting for resources that will never become available

This article applies to iGrafx Process and iGrafx Process for Six Sigma Client tools

If you receive the error message "The simulation stopped because all transactions are waiting for resources that will never become available." it may be due to the reasons listed below:

  1. The simulation clock has run to its limit (e.g. 64 years of simulated time has elapsed). This may be due to various reasons.
  2. Resource acquisitions can never be satisfied (e.g. you've asked for 30 resources for each transaction, and you only have one of that resource type).
  3. Transactions wait for resources that never become available (e.g. a schedule issue, or because they are blocked from being released by another transaction).
  4. Transactions wait for resources from a pool of count 0.
  5. Resource acquisitions are locked up between transactions (e.g., you've used the Wait switch on multiple activities, and each of the resources are waiting on the other).
  6. Transactions are blocked at input queues and will never leave the queues.

Ensure none of the conditions above occur in your model, and then re-run simulation.
