QuickMap

We are proud to introduce QuickMap. which brings the Desktop Client's rapid diagram creation capability to the Platform. QuickMap consists of an Actions table whose rows and columns handle every aspect of a simple diagram: swimlanes, activities, gateways, paths, relationships and notes - as well as a live Preview of the resulting diagram that utilizes the all new auto-layout engine. While it provides a relatively light set of features when compared to the iGrafx diagram editor, QuickMap gives users an efficient way to produce diagrams in a fraction of the time.

Collaboration

Collaborators with permission are able to create and edit diagrams using the QuickMap editor accessible from the Contains section via the QuickMap button. Designers and Architects can also get there via the diagram creation dialog. QuickMap is a new selectable diagram type.

Continue editing in QuickMap

Additionally, diagrams can be further edited in the diagram editor by Designers and Architects. With the inclusion of the QuickMap icon in the editor, users can bring diagrams into the QuickMap editor as well. However, QuickMap does not currently support the full array of features available in the main diagram editor. Complex diagrams will flag as being incompatible with QuickMap.

QuickMap view-only mode for checked-out diagrams gives Collaborators, Designers and Architects the ability to view the table contents without seeing editor tools. Clicking the QuickMap icon of a checked-in diagram will take users to QuickMap read-only mode.

Path Stepper

Diagrams can be quite large and complex, providing lots of information for every possible outcome of a given process. Path Stepper is a new capability that offers a unique process visualization experience. Path Stepper allows Designers and Architects to define paths in their diagrams that one would follow toward different outcomes. Viewers can then use these highlighted paths to focus on information relevant to their current workflow.

Path Stepper is activated in a diagram using the new icon. It also appears automatically if you use a shape link to launch a diagram. With a shape selected, all of the relevant information that shape has to offer will automatically show in the Narrative panel. Along with the new Path Stepper icon comes controls to allow you to step forward and backward through a path and a drop down menu to select other paths through the diagram if they exist.

When editing a checked-out diagram, Path editing mode is accessible from the View menu. This opens a new panel on the right side that provides Designers and Architects all of Path Stepper's creative controls. Add Path allows you to drop waypoints on shapes in a flow, drag them to other shapes, or click them again to delete. You will notice the paths between waypoints automatically trace the shortest possible connecting line. Click Finish to complete the path. Click Edit to continue working. If you edit the diagram itself the Path will automatically adjust. For most maps, waypoints set at the beginning and end of a route allows Path Stepper to automatically draw the shortest route between.

Info Center

Diagramming guides

The Info Center now offers guides for the creation and design of diagrams. These are great for those new to diagramming, or those looking for a refresher in BPMN best practices. These guides are organized in a helpful use case module that allows you to flow from guide-to-guide while continuing to work on the same diagram.
