Track background jobs

Long-running tasks — imports, simulations, bulk changes — run as background jobs so you can keep working. The Status Log shows where each of your jobs stands.

Prerequisites

None — the Status Log shows the jobs you started yourself.

Steps

  1. In the upper right, select the bell icon, labeled Notifications. The dialog has two tabs: To-do (your cycle action items) and Status Log.
  2. Open the Status Log tab. Each job shows its type, repository, start and finish time, and status. The list refreshes itself — every 5 seconds while a job is running, every 10 seconds otherwise.
  3. For jobs that carry details — imports, simulations, bulk changes, external file scans, recycle bin purges, object copies, and object deletions and archives — select the arrow at the start of the row once the job has finished to expand the details. An import job, for example, lists what was created and any per-item problems.

The Status Log tab listing simulation jobs with their start times and Completed, Failed, and Canceled statuses.

A job moves through these statuses:

StatusMeaning
NewStarting shortly.
QueuedWaiting for a free slot.
In ProgressRunning.
CompletedFinished without problems.
Completed With ErrorsFinished, but some items had problems — expand the row for details.
FailedDidn't finish because of an error.
CanceledStopped before finishing — for example by an application restart.
Timed OutStopped after running too long.

Jobs tracked here include diagram imports (Visio, IGX, IGXW, BPMNBPMN An ISO/OMG standard graphical notation for modeling business processes. Process360 Live uses BPMN 2.0 for design and simulation artifacts.), simulations, bulk changes, bulk approval votes, external file virus scans, recycle bin purges, object copying, object deletion and archiving, diagram image exports, bulk user creation, and the administrator's repository analyze and fix runs.

Limitations

  • Jobs are deleted once they're more than 7 days old. This period is fixed.
  • You can't cancel a running job from the Status Log.
