DiagramID-ShapeID field
In regulated industries, process diagrams often serve as controlled documents referenced in SOPs, audit trails, and submissions, where each step needs a stable, unambiguous identifier — for example, "see step 1-33 in Process X." The DiagramID-ShapeID display field shows such an identifier directly on activityActivity A named step in a process (e.g. "Approve Invoice"). Each event in an event log records one activity occurrence for one case. shapes:
- Standard activities show
DiagramID-ShapeID(for example1-33) — which diagram the shape belongs to, and its unique ID within that diagram. - Call activities show the ID of the referenced diagram, so it's clear which diagram the call activityActivity A named step in a process (e.g. "Approve Invoice"). Each event in an event log records one activity occurrence for one case. links to. No ID means no diagram is called.
Shape ID vs. shape number
These are different:
- Shape ID is an internal identifier assigned automatically to each shape. It's unique within the diagram and can't be edited — this is what the DiagramID-ShapeID field shows.
- Shape number is a user-facing label you add to indicate process order or aid identification. It's editable in the Numbering panel and independent of the shape ID — they may happen to match, but there's no link between them.

Two feature flags must be enabled:

Configuration is limited to placement and turning the label off — the Indicator and Show items with no data toggles are disabled (shown with an "x" and an "unavailable" tooltip). Place the field with the placement table, the same as other fields.
Merge it
Like other all-shape fields, DiagramID-ShapeID can be merged: with nothing selected, select two or more fields in the panel and click a placement dot to stack them in one location.
