Migrating repositories

When you register a version-15 repository, a migration wizard prompts you through the user, group, role, and rights mapping decisions it needs.

Prerequisites

  • A version-15 repository database to register — migrate it first with the iGrafx Repository Migration Tool.
  • If the source used Active Directory for user management, connect that directory under Admin → User Management → Directories before you start, so users and groups map automatically. If you connect it afterward, restart the migration wizard.

Steps

  1. Open Administration → Repositories and click Register Existing Repository.
  2. On the Settings tab, fill in the connection fields (see Create a new repository).
  3. Click Register Existing Repository to register it and start the migration wizard.

The wizard has five steps. On each mapping step, unmatched items appear in an orange-bordered box with a red warning icon, and matched items in a black-bordered box with a link icon and green text naming the local item they matched. Review the matched items too — you can still remap or add any of them. The links at the top of each list filter the view (View all, View x matched, View x unmatched).

1. Map users

For each unmatched user, select Find user to map it to an existing user, or Add as new user. Click Next.

2. Map groups

For each unmatched group, select Find group or Add as new group. Click Next.

3. Map item roles

For each unmatched item role, select Find role or Add as new item role. Click Next.

4. Default role mapping

Choose Assign the <current default> role to everybody with access to the repository or Remove default role. Assigning it creates a repository role in the migrated repository and assigns it to Everybody; removing it doesn't. Click Next.

5. Select repository-level rights to import

Each imported user with rights beyond the default is listed with their permitted and denied rights and a Yes/No button (default Yes). For any user whose previous permissions you don't want to import, switch the button to No. Click Complete Registration.

When migration finishes, you return to Manage Repositories, where the new repository is listed with the message "The repository you provided was successfully registered."
