A Desktop Client license key sets the level of an installation, and the level decides what that copy of the client can do:

Working with and without a repository
On its own, the Desktop Client is a local application: you open and save .igx documents on your own computer, and nothing is shared until you send a file to someone.

How you sign in
The client's connection dialog takes the Server URL of your platform and one of two authentication paths. Which one applies depends on how that platform signs people in — Which path to follow tells the two apart.
- Use Single Sign-On is the path for the iGrafx IdentityiGrafx Identity The iGrafx identity and access management service that brokers authentication between customer identity providers and Process360 Live components. Solution, which iGrafx provides as part of Enterprise Cloud. It opens a Single Sign On window that takes iGrafx credentials, and it is the path even on a platform with no identity provider configured. A username and password on their own are not accepted on this path.
- Use these credentials is the path for the classic iGrafx Login. It takes a platform username and password, and it also accepts an API key in place of the password — an API key works on either path.
